SYNOPSIS

In August, 1989, Kurt-Werner Schulz and Gundula Schafitel, who were living in the German Democratic Republic, decided to travel to the West through Hungary with their six-year-old son. Along with many of their East-German comrades, they planned illegal border crossing. However, they could not succeed if they stayed together. A shocking film about opening the borders in 1989, and about the last victim of the Iron Curtain.
