The Prison ChaplainVarga Ágota - 67'
When he was ordained, Father Lajos Butsy chose a verse from the Book of Isaiah as his directive for the future: “The Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” And indeed, he has been the prison chaplain of the Sopronkőhida Prison for seven years. Under his guidance, bad boys become gentle lambs. His only secret is the suggestion left by his predecessor, who told him to “love them!”
The documentary reveals to us the everyday life of a tireless priest, who makes his own rules and tries to “wrench the bars open” in various situations.
His private life is also uncommon – not very fitting to a Catholic priest who lives for his calling – but very human, and this is what makes him a rounded, interesting individual.
