We are contacting you on behalf of the entire BIDF (Budapest International Documentary Festival) team. There is a serious reason for this, and we thank you in advance for your attention:

Since our 10-year existence, many times together with you, with your help, with hundreds of volunteers, working with serious frugality and enthusiasm, not knowing the impossible, we have at all costs created the essential basic budget for the organization of a quality international film festival, the BIDF.

This is now in jeopardy, we currently have no chance of hosting the next BIDF.

The awarded state support (National Film Institute), which has always been undeservedly and humiliatingly low without justification, is only 15% of our minimum budget this year. We know from years of experience that approx. from which sources we can supplement the state support, but knowing the possibilities, we know that without the help of society it is impossible to organize the BIDF, the quality of which has only increased over the years.

We would like to say that we will not give up. There must be BIDF and there will be. You love it, we love it.

We are working every day to ensure that the 10th anniversary BIDF, starting at the end of January 2024, serves its audience even better than before, because while the space is getting smaller week by week, the public, the possibility of free representation, the burningly important, sensitive topics are getting smaller. , i.e. the artistic representation of reality cannot disappear.

We ask that you, who have helped our work so far as Spectators, Friends, Civilian Ambassadors, International Jury Members, Moderators, Supporters, Experts, and we could continue, to stand by us in any way you can!
